Moseley Cottage Models was founded in 2006 by Adrian Prescott and is dedicated to
providing a complete, bespoke, 'One Stop Shop' for all your hand built and finished
railway models.
Adrian built his first scratchbuilt locomotive when he was fifteen, and whilst it was less
than perfect, it was the start of a long career that now spans almost fifty years. About
thirty years ago, whilst still in full time employment he began to build and paint models
for other people. Word spread and eventually, when the opportunity arose in 2006 he
went full time. He has produced prize winning models in various scales and these days
concentrates on 4mm (all gauges) 7mm and Gauge 1.
Many of us have dreams and desires for particular models and Adrian is here to fulfil
those dreams. Whether it is for a common engine in a particular livery and condition or a
rare item of rolling stock he will work with you, the customer, to satisfy your needs. He
has significant scratchbuilding experience and can produce patterns for casting and
artwork for etched parts.
Adrian has the benefit of a dedicated workshop with a comprehensive range of hand and
machine tools. The workshop is also bathed in natural light so that the all important
painting and finishing are performed in the best possible environment.
Railway modellers are very fortunate in the 21st Century with the multitude of excellent
'ready to run' and kits available from the trade. It was not always so and many modellers
cupboards are full of the products of an earlier era when current standards were nought
but a hope. Adrian is one of the few professional modellers willing to take on the
construction and finishing of these early kits. He is also willing to discuss the
re-engineering of models built in the far distant days of the all conquering XO4 motor.
Many of these models are well worth restoring and given a second lease of life and
Adrian recognises that many of them will have nostalgic memories for the owner who
wants to see them run again. (He has a secret hoard of Tri-Ang items himself!)
